A man suspected of committing a murder in the Mini Ferme neighborhood of Yaounde has been arrested in Nkoldongo, approximately two months after the incident. The arrest took place on February 22, 2026, ending a period on the run for the suspect.
Law enforcement was alerted on November 30, 2025, to the murder of one Adji, which occurred around 4 a.m. in Mini Ferme. The Melen Gendarmerie Brigade immediately went to the scene to carry out the initial investigations. Following this, the victim's body was handed over to his family.
The investigation opened by the gendarmerie revealed that the suspect had initially fled to Ebolowa, and then to Bertoua. Believing the case was closed, he returned to Yaounde, where he was apprehended by the gendarmerie in Nkoldongo around 7 a.m.
According to Adjudant Chef-Major Nzhie Jean Bonamour, commander of the Melen Gendarmerie Brigade, the suspect is known as an aggressor operating in Mini Ferme. The victim, originally from the North region, had arrived in Yaounde only two weeks before his death.
The suspect has been placed at the disposal of justice and will have to answer for his actions. Crime rates in Yaounde are considered moderate. Travelers are advised to avoid isolated areas and markets such as Mokolo market.
