A macabre discovery turned to relief this morning in Yaounde, when a newborn was found abandoned in a septic tank. The incident sparked a wave of emotion and solidarity among local residents, who mobilized to rescue the infant.
According to testimonies collected on the spot, residents were alerted by suspicious noises coming from the pit. Approaching, they discovered with horror the presence of a baby inside. The alarm was raised, and several people rushed to try to save the child from certain death.
The rescue operation proved delicate. After several minutes of effort, residents managed to partially break the pit to extract the infant. Against all odds, the baby was still alive, prompting cries of joy and relief. The scene was particularly harrowing for the women of the neighborhood, many of whom could not hold back their tears.
A resident immediately took charge of the newborn, carefully cleaning him before transferring him to a health center. Thorough medical examinations will be carried out to assess his health and provide the necessary care. The competent authorities have been informed of the situation.
