Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, is preparing to become the epicenter of African gymnastics as it hosts the 19th edition of the African Artistic Gymnastics Championships from April 23rd to 26th, 2026. The event will take place at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports de Yaoundé (PAPOSY).
The President of the Cameroonian Gymnastics Federation (CAMERGYM), Annie-Flore Tekel, announced the event in an official statement. She emphasized Cameroon's honor in organizing these championships, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP) and the African Gymnastics Union (UAG).
This major sporting event will bring together the best African gymnasts, both junior and senior, providing Cameroon with an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to host high-level international competitions. This marks the first time Cameroon has hosted this event, offering a chance to promote the country and strengthen its position in the African sporting landscape.
Beyond the sporting aspect, these championships are a showcase for the "Cameroon Label," demonstrating the country's capacity to organize international events and encourage excellence in gymnastics.
