Children in Yaounde, aged 4 to 16, will have the opportunity to practice sports for free during the Easter holidays thanks to the Highlanders Youth Sports Academy (HYSA). The academy is organizing a sports camp open to everyone at the Borne 10 Municipal Sports Complex, located in Odza. Participants will be able to learn basketball and badminton, all supervised by caring professionals, without registration fees.
The initiative, called "Giving Back Through Sport," specifically targets children and adolescents in the Odza neighborhood, a densely populated area of Yaounde. During the Easter holidays, the Borne 10 Municipal Sports Complex will be transformed into a real sports awakening ground for these young people. This citizen project is driven by the sole desire to give back to youth, without any sponsors or public funding.
The program includes basketball and badminton, two sports that are not always easily accessible for free in the popular neighborhoods of the Cameroonian capital. The main objective is to keep young people away from idleness by offering them a healthy, supervised and stimulating environment during this holiday period. Fabrice Koupeguiang Mbevo, initiator of the project and head of HYSA, stresses the importance of community support: "Your support, even by a simple share, could really make a big difference for these young people".
