Yango Group has announced the launch of Yango Tech in Africa, marking a significant expansion of its operations on the continent. This initiative aims to offer businesses, urban administrations, and public sector organizations a range of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure solutions.
This expansion reflects Yango Group's evolution beyond consumer-oriented services to offer B2B technology solutions and AI deployments. Yango Tech aims to support organizations in automating their operations, modernizing their infrastructure, and integrating AI tools into various key sectors such as mobility, healthcare, financial services, and retail.
According to a McKinsey study, generative AI could generate an annual economic value of between $61 billion and $103 billion in Africa. Meanwhile, over 40% of African organizations are already experimenting with or implementing AI-based solutions. The demand for digital infrastructure and enterprise technologies also continues to grow in African markets. GSMA estimates that the mobile sector contributed $220 billion to the African economy in 2024 and projects an increase to $270 billion by 2030, driven by the growth of digital services and enterprise technologies.
Yango Tech's portfolio for Africa includes generative AI adoption programs, smart city technologies, healthcare sector digitization solutions, and platforms for financial services and e-commerce. The company offers to assist private companies and public organizations in identifying areas where AI can bring measurable commercial value, developing implementation plans, assessing return on investment, and integrating AI tools into their operations. The offering also includes deployment support, AI governance frameworks, and training programs for executives and operational teams.
Adeniyi Adebayo, Chief Business Officer of Yango Group, emphasizes that African markets are showing increasing demand for automation, infrastructure modernization, and concrete AI applications. He states that Yango Tech's goal is to help organizations implement technologies that can improve their operational efficiency and support their digital transformation in the long term.
Yango Tech has already successfully implemented MaaS (Mobility as a Service) projects in Central Asia, including real-time ambulance tracking systems. The company has already begun deployments in Mozambique and South Africa, covering mobility, health, and e-commerce, which is a first step in a broader expansion across the continent. The group, headquartered in Dubai, has opened a regional office in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. Yango employs approximately 200 people on the continent and plans to increase its local capabilities.
Yango Tech's expansion in Africa comes at a time when the potential of AI on the continent is increasingly recognized, with estimates suggesting that AI could add up to $1.5 trillion to Africa's GDP by 2030.
