On Sunday, March 22, 2026, Douala was the scene of a celebration dedicated to those who shape urban mobility in Cameroon. Yango, the mobility platform, organized a special event at the "La Terrasse" hall in Dogbong to honor its partner drivers on the occasion of International Drivers' Day.
This initiative aimed to highlight the commitment and professionalism of the drivers who contribute daily to providing quality service to Yango users. According to Dr. Clovis Pilla, Country Manager of Yango Cameroon, the objective is to build a solid and sustainable platform, valuing driving as a viable source of income.
During the ceremony, 13 drivers were rewarded in various categories, ranging from Eco to Confort+, including Moto. Special prizes were also awarded, including the best Yango driver content creator. A draw allowed one of the participants to win a new motorcycle. The selection of the winners was based on rigorous criteria such as user ratings, quality of service, regularity and commitment to the platform.
The winning drivers shared their emotion and gratitude. Wekan Aubain, named best Eco driver, stressed the importance of this recognition for his hard work. Fonhoué Bradau Kemje, winner in the Eco-Confort category, highlighted the flexibility offered by Yango, allowing drivers to manage their schedules. Bile Martin, winner of the new motorcycle, expressed his joy and motivation to excel in his work.
This event follows a similar ceremony held in January 2025. Yango plans to organize a new recognition event in April, reaffirming its commitment to its partners and its desire to promote more human and inclusive mobility in Cameroon. In January 2026, Yango had already organized an awards ceremony to reward its best drivers in Douala, Yaounde and Bafoussam.
In addition to these initiatives, Yango launched the "Yango Championship Cup" in Morocco, a competition to reward partner drivers in Casablanca during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025. This competition, which ran from December 2025 to January 2026, aimed to recognize the commitment and professionalism of drivers.
Through these initiatives, Yango aims to actively contribute to building more human, inclusive and opportunity-generating urban mobility in Cameroon and beyond.
