A historic record has fallen at Mallorca. Kosovar striker Vedat Muriqi has surpassed Samuel Eto'o as the club's top scorer in La Liga. Muriqi now has 55 goals, surpassing the 54 goals scored by Samuel Eto'o during his time at the club.
The goal that allowed Muriqi to break this record was scored against Real Madrid. This performance underscores Muriqi's importance in the RCD Mallorca's offensive setup, where he has established himself as a key player thanks to his consistency and efficiency.
Samuel Eto'o held this record for 22 years. His time at Mallorca left a lasting impression, both through his sporting performances and his impact on the fans. Although Muriqi takes over this record, Eto'o's legacy in Mallorca remains intact.
In addition to this record, Muriqi is getting closer to the top of the La Liga scoring charts. With his two goals against Rayo Vallecano on April 12, 2026, he has a total of 21 goals this season, placing him just two goals behind Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé.
"I'm very proud," said Muriqi, 31. "We've done a very good job and now we're out of the relegation zone". After his 3-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano, Mallorca is in 15th place in the standings, moving away from the relegation zone.
Muriqi joined Mallorca on loan in January 2022 before signing a permanent five-year contract with the club in July of the same year. In the 2022-2023 season, he was the club's top scorer with 15 goals, ranking fifth overall in the league. On February 15, 2026, he scored his 50th La Liga goal for Mallorca.
The Kosovar began his career with Liria Prizren before playing in Albania, then Turkey, before joining Lazio in Italy.
Samuel Eto'o, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, played for Mallorca from 2000 to 2004, scoring 54 goals in 133 La Liga appearances. He went on to play for Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea, among others.
