In anticipation of International Women's Day, the University of Yaounde I is reinforcing its commitment to gender equality through a series of academic discussions. The university's Department of Sociology launched the 6th edition of its special conference cycle focusing on gender and development.
The highlight of this initiative was on Wednesday, March 4, featuring a high-level panel that brought together influential figures. Speakers included the Minister of Women's Empowerment and the Family, the Attorney General of the Supreme Court, and the Resident Representative of UN Women in Cameroon. The Rector of the University of Yaounde I completed this exceptional panel.
These discussions aim to place academic reflection at the heart of contemporary issues related to gender equality, governance, and social justice. This inaugural conference marks the beginning of a series of events designed to foster public debate, build student capacity, and inspire a new generation of actors committed to equity.
