The University of Garoua is taking a significant step in modernizing its financial management system. Starting February 24, 2026, students will be able to pay their tuition and exam fees via the Mobile Money (MoMo) platform, a result of a partnership with Mobile Money Corporation. This initiative aims to simplify procedures for students and enhance the transparency of transactions within the institution.
The partnership agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of Garoua, Prof. Boubakari Oumarou, and the General Manager of Mobile Money Corporation, Alain Claude Nono. This agreement marks the official launch of digitized payments, allowing students to pay their pre-registration fees, tuition fees, and make partial or full payments online.
The process is designed to be simple and intuitive. Students log in to the university website, enter their registration number, select the type of payment, and validate the transaction via MoMo. A certified digital receipt is immediately generated, serving as proof for all administrative procedures.
According to university authorities, this new system will improve the traceability of payments, limit the risks associated with manual handling, and increase the efficiency of budget management. The digitization of payments is part of an effort to improve the university's internal financial governance and support the national strategy for digital transformation of higher education.
Alain Nono emphasized Mobile Money Corporation's commitment to contributing to the development of the education sector by integrating accessible, reliable, and secure digital tools. He also highlighted the simplicity, inclusivity, and security offered to students for managing their academic obligations.
Rector Boubakari Oumarou emphasized the advantages of this digitization, including the reduction of queues, the decrease in travel, and the security of payments. He called for a rapid adoption of the system by students, stressing that this initiative represents a decisive step towards a more modern university that is closer to its students.
This project was preceded by a phase of technical tests conducted jointly by the university and Mobile Money Corporation teams. The work focused on the integration of the university platform, data harmonization, payment path simulation, digital receipt validation, and administrative staff training.
The University of Garoua hopes that this solution will facilitate administrative procedures, ensure instant and verifiable payments, reduce errors, and allow for greater flexibility through the possibility of partial payments. "The digitization of tuition payments is a decisive step towards a more modern university that is closer to its students," said Rector Oumarou.
