The University of Ebolowa, chosen to host the finals of the University Games in August 2026, has officially launched competitions for the creation of its anthem and logo. The Rector of the University, Professor Jean Bosco Etoa Etoa, released two calls for applications on March 10, inviting students from public universities and private higher education institutions to participate in this landmark event.
The call for applications specifies that the anthem should reflect national issues, while highlighting the historical, sociological, environmental, and cultural context of the South region, which will host this edition. In addition, the anthem is expected to emphasize the commitment of the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, to establish a state university in each region of Cameroon. The themes of peace, security, living together, entrepreneurship, digital technology, youth, professionalization, innovation, environmental preservation, human capital, and the University-Enterprise must also be integrated.
Students interested in composing the anthem are invited to submit their complete applications, in sealed envelopes, to the mail service of the University of Ebolowa, no later than March 31, 2026, at 3 p.m. Each application must include the text of the anthem accompanied by its score, a USB drive containing the melody and the digital version of the text, as well as proof of registration in a Cameroonian higher education institution.
A jury appointed by the Rector will examine the submitted works on April 3, 2026, and propose the best one to the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education. The three best compositions will be rewarded.
Regarding the logo, candidates must have skills in plastic arts and computer graphics. The logo must also integrate the concepts of peace, security, living together, entrepreneurship, digital technology, youth, professionalization, innovation, environmental preservation, human capital, and the University-Enterprise. Application files for the logo must be submitted before March 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. They must include the logo printed on A4 paper, a USB drive with the digital version, and proof of registration in a higher education institution.
The jury will also meet on April 3, 2026, to evaluate the logo proposals and submit the best one to the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education. The three best logo creators will also receive prizes. These competitions represent a unique opportunity for students to contribute to the visual and sound identity of this major sporting event.
