Unisport du Haut-Nkam, a leading club in the region, is still waiting for the 3 million FCFA pledged by its former player, Serge Branco Namekong. Despite the announcement of financial support from the former Cameroonian international, the club denies having received the sum, calling the information circulating on social media "false" and an "attempt to destabilize".
In a statement released this Monday, May 11, the club, through its media officer, wanted to clarify the situation. According to the statement, Serge Branco Namekong had promised an incentive bonus of three million FCFA to the team in the event of three successive victories. However, Unisport du Haut-Nkam claims that no one officially representing the club has received this money. The club insists that any statement to the contrary is false and aims to sow discord within the team.
The club also invites its former glory, champion of Cameroon with the team in 1996, to provide concrete support to the team. This statement comes as Serge Branco Namekong had launched an appeal for the mobilization of elites and natives of the Haut-Nkam department, encouraging them to make financial contributions to help the team consolidate its leading position and win the championship. In particular, he urged international footballers from Haut-Nkam, such as Alphonse Tchami, Moumi Ngamaleu and Ngadeu Ngadjui, to financially support their village team.
Meanwhile, Unisport du Haut-Nkam continues its journey in the MTN Elite One championship. The club has been on a good dynamic since the start of the second leg, with a series of three wins and two draws. The team, led by Laurent Djam, has put in place an organization that is bearing fruit, in particular by optimizing the revenues from night matches in Bafang. During the 18th day, against Canon Sportif de Yaoundé, the ticket office recorded 5,737,000 FCFA, a significant amount which testifies to the enthusiasm around the club.
Despite this popular support and the efforts made by the management team, Unisport du Haut-Nkam still hopes that Serge Branco Namekong's promise will materialize, in order to strengthen its resources and continue its quest for the title of champion of Cameroon.
