UBA Cameroon has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of Cameroonian football by strengthening its strategic partnership with the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT). This partnership, which began in 2022, has provided financial support for key initiatives, including the construction of FECAFOOT's new ultra-modern headquarters in Yaounde.
The inauguration of the new headquarters, which took place on May 13, 2026, was presided over by the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, in the presence of several members of the government, as well as prominent figures from FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and key players in the football ecosystem. The new headquarters is seen as an important step in modernizing football administration in Cameroon.
Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the UBA Group, praised the commitment of FECAFOOT, the Cameroonian government, and stakeholders to the development of sports infrastructure in the country. He reaffirmed UBA's support for national construction initiatives, including the Olembe Stadium and the Japoma Sports Complex. According to him, these projects create opportunities for youth development and strengthen national pride across Africa.
Samuel Eto'o, President of FECAFOOT, expressed his gratitude to UBA for its continued support and called for increased collaboration on future projects. CAF President Patrice Motsepe also welcomed UBA's support and encouraged greater collaboration between the private sector and African football federations.
UBA Cameroon has played a key role in financing sports infrastructure projects in Cameroon, particularly in the context of AFCON 2021. The bank notably enabled the State of Cameroon to disburse 15% of the total construction cost of the Olembe Stadium through a loan facility. UBA Cameroon also participated in the financing of the Japoma Sports Complex in Douala, providing bonds, guarantees, and a short-term loan.
