The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) inaugurated its new headquarters in Yaoundé on May 13, 2026. This event marks a significant step in the modernization of football administration in Cameroon. To support this project, UBA Cameroon granted a loan of 2.5 billion FCFA, enabling the completion of construction and equipment.
The Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, inaugurated the building in the presence of Patrice Motsepe, President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), and several other dignitaries. The new headquarters, located in the Warda district of Yaoundé, includes offices, conference rooms, a press center, and connected workspaces.
In a message to FECAFOOT's management, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of the UBA Group, praised the project's completion and reaffirmed his group's commitment to financing sports infrastructure projects in Africa. He emphasized that these investments contribute to the development of sports and the empowerment of youth. Sarata Thiam, the group's head for activities in French-speaking Africa, added that this partnership is part of a long-term perspective and that the bank intends to continue its involvement in the sports sector.
Samuel Eto'o, President of FECAFOOT, expressed his gratitude to UBA for its support and advocated for continued cooperation in other local football development initiatives.
UBA Cameroon has already participated in financing sports infrastructure, notably during the AFCON 2021, by supporting the construction of the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé and the Japoma Sports Complex in Douala. For the Olembe Stadium, UBA enabled the State to mobilize 15% of the total construction cost. The Japoma Sports Complex benefited from bonds, guarantees, and a short-term loan from the bank.
This new headquarters represents a symbol of modernization for Cameroonian football, after years of instability. The project was initiated in 2012 by Iya Mohammed but was revived and completed under the presidency of Samuel Eto'o.
