Cameroon's Under-17 team bounced back this Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Uganda, after being defeated by Côte d'Ivoire in their first match of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Morocco.

A goal by Abdourahman Soudeisse in the 24th minute allowed the young Cameroonians to secure a crucial victory in this tournament. This success revives the Young Lions' chances of qualifying for the next round of the competition.

Following their initial defeat against the Ivorians, the Cameroonians were under pressure before this match against Uganda. This victory is therefore essential for their qualification hopes. Cameroon will face the Central African Republic in their final group match on May 19.

The Africa U-17 Cup of Nations is taking place in Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026. This 16th edition of the tournament brings together 16 teams. In addition to the continental title, this competition also offers qualifying places for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar. The stakes are therefore high for all participating teams.

Morocco, the host country, is also the defending champion after winning the 2025 edition. The top ten teams from this U-17 AFCON will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The eight teams that reach the quarter-finals will automatically secure their place in the World Cup, while the four teams finishing third in their group will compete in play-off matches to determine the last two African nations to qualify.
