The Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, inspected the progress of the logistics base of the Roads and Construction Agency (2RC) of the Douala Urban Community (CUD) in Ndobo on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Accompanied by the Prefect of Wouri, the Mayor of Douala, Roger Mbassa Ndinè, and traditional chiefs, the governor visited the site dedicated to the manufacture of paving stones. The work is progressing well, with an emulsion plant and a paving machine already installed. The logistics base is in the preparation phase for the launch of production, with an estimated completion rate of 85%.
The Autonomous Roads and Construction Agency (2RC), created in 2021, is tasked with rehabilitating urban roads at a lower cost and reducing administrative delays related to public contracts. This initiative is part of the CUD's strategy to modernize infrastructure, improve urban mobility and enhance the living environment for the people of Douala.
During a television program in July 2025, Mayor Roger Mbassa Ndinè gave a positive assessment of the Agency's activities since it became effectively operational in 2024. He emphasized that the Agency has acted with flexibility, helping to avert a disaster on the deteriorated road at the exit of Bonabéri. The mayor clarified that the Agency focuses on patching potholes to ensure traffic flow, rather than new construction.
The CUD, created in 1987, is a decentralized territorial authority responsible for promoting the economic, social and cultural development of Douala. It manages the urban area, issues building permits, maintains roads, and regulates traffic. In October 2025, the Douala city council strengthened the resources of the 2RC by receiving an initial delivery of heavy equipment, the result of a credit agreement with UBA bank. This equipment should enable the agency to operate with the same efficiency as public works companies.
The commissioning of this paving stone factory represents an important step in improving Douala's infrastructure, where heavy rainfall makes it difficult to maintain urban roads.
