A wind of change is blowing at the head of the Littoral Judicial Police (PJ). Divisional Commissioner Alain Camille Nguen Sany has been appointed interim chief, succeeding Divisional Commissioner Oumarou. The decision, signed by the Delegate General for National Security (DGSN), Martin Mbarga Nguélé, is dated February 25, 2026.
Prior to this appointment in Douala, Alain Camille Nguen Sany was serving in the North-West region. His professional career led him, in 2021, to the post of Head of Division at the Regional Delegation of National Security of Adamaoua, after having been Commissioner of Public Security of the 3rd Arrondissement of Yaoundé and Commissioner at the Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport.
This reshuffle comes in a context of revitalizing the police services of the Cameroonian economic capital. According to concurring sources, Divisional Commissioner Oumarou was reportedly removed from his post on the instructions of the DGSN, Martin Mbarga Nguélé.
Indeed, Oumarou is suspected of being involved in the embezzlement of a drug shipment seized in Douala, the value of which is estimated at 600 million FCFA. The stock, initially intended for destruction, mysteriously disappeared. Elements of the judicial police, fearing sanctions, reportedly denounced their hierarchy, thus precipitating the fall of Commissioner Oumarou.
The case highlights the persistent challenges related to the management of evidence and the fight against corruption within the Cameroonian law enforcement agencies. Sources close to the case indicate that several inspectors and police officers serving in the DRPJ of the Littoral are currently being questioned at the General Delegation for National Security in Yaoundé. Some elements of the brigade that carried out the initial seizure are reportedly under "strict arrest" while their degree of responsibility in the handling of the shipment is determined.
Investigators are seeking to determine whether the embezzlement is an isolated act or a structurally installed resale system. This case is reminiscent of the dismissal, in January 2023, of Divisional Commissioner Babanguida Ahmadou, former head of the border police at Douala airport, for a similar drug trafficking case.
If Oumarou's guilt is proven, he could be arrested soon. In the meantime, Alain Camille Nguen Sany is taking over the reins of the Littoral PJ with the heavy task of restoring confidence and successfully conducting the ongoing investigations.
