Cameroonian football celebrated its finest talents at the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony, held on February 27, 2026. Gazelle FA of Garoua striker Serge Daura was crowned Men's Ballon d'Or winner, while Lys Fraîche Tiwa from Lékié Football Filles took home the women's title.
Serge Daura had an exceptional season, also winning the Golden Boot and Revelation of the Year awards. The 19-year-old, who plays as a striker, lit up the MTN Elite One pitches, turning every game into a demonstration of talent and leadership. His performances earned him a check for two million CFA francs, a land title, and a Sky Motor car. Daura succeeds John Bosco Nchindo, the 2024 winner.
Lys Fraîche Tiwa also shone, winning the Women's Ballon d'Or and succeeding Naomi Eto'o, who now plays for PSG Féminin. The Lékié Football Filles striker distinguished herself with impressive statistics, scoring 22 goals last season, which also earned her the Golden Boot. In addition to the Ballon d'Or title, Tiwa won a 500 m² plot of land.
The ceremony, which took place at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, was presided over by the First Lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya. Several political and sporting figures were in attendance, including the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, and the Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.
This edition of the Ballon d'Or, the fourth under the Samuel Eto'o era at the head of FECAFOOT, highlighted the excellence of Cameroonian football and set the stage for the 2026 season.
