This action is part of a series of FECAFOOT initiatives aimed at promoting football among young Cameroonians. The federation recently launched the FIFA-TDS U-17 Elite Youth Championship, a project designed to professionalize academy structures and create a pool of talent for national teams. This championship, supported by the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS), will involve 54 teams divided into four geographic zones, with a final phase scheduled for May 2026.
In addition, FECAFOOT has partnered with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education to launch the "Sport for Development, Social Cohesion and Peace" project, which aims to improve access for young people and vulnerable groups to quality sports infrastructure. Samuel Eto'o also stressed the importance of improving football training and education in the country's primary and secondary schools.
