On May 13, 2026, during the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Yaoundé, Samuel Eto'o paid a vibrant tribute to Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Minister of Sports and Physical Education. In a speech filled with references to their shared origins, the president of FECAFOOT emphasized the collective dimension of this project, which he considers a historic moment for Cameroonian football.
In front of a host of guests, Samuel Eto'o made a point of associating Narcisse Mouelle Kombi with the realization of this new headquarters. "Your Excellency, Mr. Minister of Sports, dear Sawa elder, we did it. The children from the water did it. We did it together," he declared, emphasizing the human and historical dimension of the event.
The former captain of the Indomitable Lions then evoked their common roots linked to the city of Douala. "History will remember that a father and a son from Douala accomplished this," he added, thus placing the inauguration within a dynamic of unity. This project, initiated more than ten years ago by former FECAFOOT president Iya Mohamed, experienced interruptions before being relaunched under the Eto'o administration.
The new FECAFOOT headquarters is seen as a strategic investment for the future of Cameroonian football. It is designed to provide modern infrastructure tailored to the needs of a growing federation. Beyond its functional aspect, the building is intended to be a symbol of pride and renewal for Cameroonian football.
The construction of this ultra-modern headquarters had been mentioned as early as 2012, highlighting FECAFOOT's desire to acquire modern infrastructure. This project is presented as a sign of maturity for the federation, with the aim of supporting the country's development policy. The inauguration of this new headquarters marks an important milestone in the history of FECAFOOT and Cameroonian football.
