The new headquarters of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) was inaugurated on May 13, 2026, in Yaounde, and the current president, Samuel Eto'o, made a point of paying tribute to his predecessor, Iya Mohamed.
During the ceremony, Eto'o stressed that this project, which became a reality after more than fourteen years, was initially a vision of Mohamed, who had perceived the need for a modern administration to support Cameroonian football. "Mr. Prime Minister, personal representative of the Head of State, Iya Mohamed saw much further than his time. He is the beginning of this beautiful dream," Eto'o declared. He added that Iya Mohamed understood what the history of Cameroonian football needed: an administration that matched the performance of the Indomitable Lions.
The construction project of the new headquarters was launched in 2010 by Iya Mohamed, with funds from Cameroon's participation in the World Cup of the same year. However, the work was interrupted in 2013 following Mohamed's imprisonment. Samuel Eto'o made the completion of this headquarters a priority from the moment he was elected head of FECAFOOT.
Several political and sporting figures attended the inauguration, a sign of the importance of this event for Cameroonian football. The former president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad, was also present.
This new headquarters, located in the Warda district of Yaounde, is seen as a symbol of modernization and renewal for Cameroonian football, which has long faced internal crises and organizational difficulties. The inauguration ceremony was preceded by a sports march through the streets of Yaounde, a gala match and a musical concert at the military stadium.
The new FECAFOOT headquarters marks a turning point in the administrative history of Cameroonian football.
