The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto'o, has spoken out to defend his role and involvement with the Indomitable Lions, following numerous criticisms regarding his presence in the locker room and his management of the national team. The former captain of the Indomitable Lions described these criticisms as a "false debate," insisting on his right and duty to protect and guide the team.
Since his election as head of FECAFOOT in December 2021, Eto'o has adopted a very hands-on approach in managing the national team, which has generated mixed reactions. Some observers and supporters question his omnipresent role, while others welcome his commitment and willingness to put his experience at the service of Cameroonian football. He also highlighted the measures he has taken to improve transparency, in particular by imposing bank transfers for all payments.
