Midfielder Ryan Fosso Donfack, formerly with Switzerland's youth teams, has officially chosen to represent Cameroon on the international stage. FIFA has validated his change of sporting nationality, paving the way for his debut with the Indomitable Lions.
Fosso, 23, expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Cameroonian team, emphasizing that it was a "choice of the heart". He highlighted the positive exchanges with coach David Pagou, which reinforced his decision. "The coach spoke to me, he is an honest and trustworthy man. He told me about his ideas and the conversations were fluid and positive," he said.
Born in Switzerland on June 17, 2002, Fosso also explained his deep attachment to Cameroon, the country of his origins. "Cameroon is my roots, it's my home," he stated, adding that he had been following the national team's matches since he was young and was inspired by players such as Alexandre Song and Samuel Eto'o.
Described as a versatile midfielder, capable of defending, scoring, and creating plays, Fosso could bring significant added value to the Indomitable Lions. His experience gained in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and the Netherlands, where he played for Fortuna Sittard, as well as in Austria with Sturm Graz, could prove valuable to the team.
The former Young Boys player joined Sturm Graz in January 2026. He has already made 5 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Fosso could be included in David Pagou's squad for the upcoming FIFA Series 2026 matches, notably against Australia and China.
With FIFA's approval made official on March 11, 2026, Ryan Fosso Donfack is now ready to wear the colors of Cameroon and contribute to the rise of Cameroonian football.
