The President of the Republic, Paul Biya, signed a decree this Tuesday, March 3, 2026, appointing the members of the Board of Directors of Crédit Foncier du Cameroun (CFC). This decision comes at a time when the CFC, an institution specializing in housing finance, is called upon to play a crucial role in achieving Cameroon's emergence goals by 2035.
The Board of Directors of the CFC is the body responsible for defining the institution's strategy and ensuring its proper management. It determines the general policy, controls the management of the company, defines the standards and ensures the implementation of the strategy while respecting the principles of good governance. The composition of the Board is an important issue, as it reflects the various stakeholders and the orientations desired by the shareholder State.
The personalities appointed by the presidential decree will have the responsibility of steering the CFC's actions in a constantly evolving economic and social context. The challenges to be met include the need to increase access to housing for the Cameroonian population, to support the development of the construction sector and to promote job creation. The CFC is also involved in financing municipal city construction projects, in partnership with the Special Fund for Equipment and Intercommunal Intervention (Feicom).
This appointment comes as the General Manager of Crédit Foncier du Cameroun, Jean-Paul Missi, is subject to an audit regarding the award and execution of contracts within the financial institution over the past ten years. This audit aims to examine the compliance of procurement procedures validated by the Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ARMP). The CFC must therefore ensure rigorous and transparent management in order to fully fulfill its mission of supporting housing development in Cameroon.
Crédit Foncier du Cameroun, with this new board of directors, will have to continue its efforts to meet housing needs and boost the construction sector.
