The Community of Madrid Fans of Cameroon has received official approval from Real Madrid, becoming the only recognized fan association of the club in the country. This recognition was formalized on April 15 in Madrid and announced at a press conference in Douala on May 8.
Emmanuel Pascal Fembe, president of the Community of Madrid Fans of Cameroon, traveled to Spain in mid-March to obtain this approval. His journey led him to meet Godfried Paulin Yanga, the Cameroonian ambassador to Spain, to whom he presented the vision of his fan community. The ambassador, surprised by this approach, facilitated Fembe's meeting with the Cameroonian diaspora in Spain, particularly Real Madrid supporters. He also provided him with a translator to facilitate his exchanges with club officials.
On April 16, Fembe met with executives from the Pena department, which manages fan groups around the world, at Real Madrid headquarters. Antonia Fernandez, director of the department, presented him with the long-awaited approval. Subsequently, he spoke with officials from the Real Madrid Foundation, hoping to obtain financial support. However, he was informed that the foundation did not provide direct funding for social activities. Instead, the Foundation suggested a partnership with local businesses and institutions to create socio-sports schools, which the Foundation could then support.
With 300 members, Pena Madridistas Cameroon aims to restructure itself to meet the international standards set by Real Madrid. This includes the acquisition of membership cards and the search for sponsors to alleviate the financial burden currently on the fans. The goal is clear: to structure support for Real Madrid in Cameroon and develop sustainable socio-sports initiatives.
