The Transitional Council for Professional Football (CTFP) has decided to take action against the harsh criticism from Racing de Bafoussam's coach, Jean-Jacques Kouossi. CTFP's Secretary-General, Faustin Blaise Mbida, announced that Kouossi would be brought before the federal homologation and disciplinary commission. This decision follows the coach's inflammatory statements after his team's match against Bamboutos FC, during the 5th day of Elite Two.
After his club's defeat, Jean-Jacques Kouossi had publicly questioned the impartiality of the refereeing, even claiming that the referees had favored the opposing club. He also stated that clubs without financial means were "doomed to die," remarks that the CTFP considers damaging to the championship's image.
While Jean-Jacques Kouossi is not the first coach to denounce refereeing, the CTFP seems determined to no longer tolerate this type of statement, especially when they call into question the financial integrity of the competitions. In the past, David Pagou and Minkréo Birwe had also expressed their dissatisfaction with the refereeing, but without explicitly raising the issue of money. The CTFP has thus called on all football stakeholders to refer any disputes to the competent authorities, rather than resorting to potentially defamatory public statements.
This affair comes as Jean-Jacques Kouossi has reportedly resigned from his position as coach of Racing de Bafoussam, a club facing economic and sporting difficulties. The disciplinary committee will therefore have to rule on the coach's case, who risks a sanction if he cannot prove his accusations.
