In anticipation of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Cameroon from April 15 to 18, 2026, the Presidency of the Republic has announced the establishment of digital platforms dedicated to disseminating official information. This initiative aims to centralize and authenticate information relating to the Pontiff's stay in Cameroonian territory.

The Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, made this information public on March 26, 2026. According to the press release, a website and social media accounts have been created to allow the public to access all reference information regarding the papal visit.

The digital platforms set up are as follows: the websites www.papeaucameroun2026.cm and www.popeincameroon2026.cm, as well as the social media accounts Facebook (@papeaucameroun2026), X (@popeincameroon2026) and Instagram (@popeincameroon2026).

The announcement of Pope Leo XIV's visit has generated great anticipation within Cameroon's Catholic community, as well as among political and civil society actors. Many see this visit as an important event, particularly given the country's current socio-political context. Cameroon faces multiple challenges, including the ongoing crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions.

Leo XIV will be the third Pope to visit Cameroon, after John Paul II in 1985 and 1995, and Benedict XVI in 2009. This visit comes at a time when the country is facing political and security tensions. Archbishop Andrew Nkea stressed that the Pope was coming as an ambassador of peace and an apostle of reconciliation. His message is expected to focus on dialogue, justice and forgiveness.
