In anticipation of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Cameroon, scheduled from April 15th to 18th, 2026, the official anthem for the event has been unveiled. The announcement was made by the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, specifying that the voices for the anthem were recorded by the choir "La voix du cénacle" of the late Gervais Mendo Ze.

Entitled "His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, Welcome to Cameroon, Land of Hope," the project was presented by Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic. The official release of the music is eagerly awaited, as the Holy See is expected in Cameroon in a few days.

The lyrics of the anthem are the work of Abbé Simplice Vladimir BIDZANGA, while the music was composed by Dr. Rosny Frédéric M. MBIDA. The anthem is a blend of French and local languages, reflecting Cameroon's cultural diversity. The lyrics express a message of welcome, hope, and peace, inviting the Pope to bring the light of Christ to the Cameroonian land.

The Pope's itinerary includes important stops in Yaoundé, Douala, and Bamenda. Archbishop of Bamenda, Andrew Nkea, emphasized that the Pope's visit is a spiritual turning point focused on peace, unity, and moral transformation, rather than politics. He insisted that the Pope's message should not be interpreted as a quick fix to the country's challenges but as an ongoing process requiring patience and commitment.

Pope Leo XIV's visit to Africa also includes stops in Algeria, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea. This tour marks his first return to the African continent as Pope, reinforcing the importance of the Church in developing regions of the world.

As Cameroon prepares to welcome the Pope, logistical preparations and media accreditation requests are underway to ensure comprehensive coverage of this important national event. The event is seen as a moment of national reconciliation and spiritual renewal for the country.
