The engineering firm Parlym has been selected to conduct engineering studies for the Yoyo-Yolanda transborder gas project, which will be jointly developed by Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. This award follows a gradual acceleration of the project on the technical, legal, and operational fronts. The Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH) plans to establish a dedicated project monitoring team to oversee the execution of the studies upon their effective launch.

Parlym's mission involves conducting the engineering studies necessary for the development of the Yoyo-Yolanda gas field. These studies will define the most suitable technical solutions for resource exploitation, as well as the infrastructure required for their processing and valorization. This study phase could last approximately six months. This step is crucial for the project's continuation, as it will specify the development plan, technological choices, facility requirements, and cost and schedule parameters.

The Yoyo-Yolanda project experienced a major diplomatic and institutional advancement in early 2026. On February 1st, an official mission led to Equatorial Guinea by the interim Minister of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development, Fuh Calistus Gentry, facilitated progress towards signing the unitization agreement for the transborder gas field. This agreement is considered a decisive step for the joint exploitation of the deposit, with estimated reserves of 2.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

The envisioned development plan includes installing a processing platform within the Yoyo production sharing contract area, as well as drilling three development wells. The unitization agreement should also govern drilling operations on both sides of the maritime border by the operators involved. Technical management of the project has been entrusted to the American company Chevron, designated as the operator, with an estimated total investment of $4 billion.

The awarding of engineering studies to Parlym marks a concrete step forward in the project's maturation. Parlym is an engineering and consulting group operating in 45 countries, specializing in the energy, chemical, petrochemical, and environmental sectors. The group offers a range of services from design to completion of industrial projects. The company recently acquired ISI, a French company specializing in fire protection, further strengthening its service offerings for the petrochemical, gas, chemical, hydrogen, and nuclear industries. The completion of these engineering studies will help clarify the effective timeline for the start of operations.
