The controversy surrounding unpaid bonuses from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) continues to spark reactions. This time, it's Nathan Doualla, former Victoria United player, who is responding to statements made by André Onana, the Indomitable Lions' goalkeeper.
During a live broadcast on TikTok, André Onana claimed that a player from the local league had only received 5 million FCFA instead of the 40 million promised during the 2023 AFCON. These remarks drew a sharp reaction from Nathan Doualla, who was also present in Côte d'Ivoire under the guidance of Rigobert Song.
"I don't see a single Lions player from the local league who hasn't received their bonuses," Doualla stated, challenging Onana's version of events. He insists that the local players were indeed compensated and that the goalkeeper's TikTok interview is "without substance".
Doualla didn't hesitate to send a direct message to his teammate: "We have been paid, our investments speak for us. We thank the current leaders of Cameroonian football a thousand times". He also responded to Onana's comments by referring to his own financial situation: "When I hear 5 million, I laugh... how much did my car cost?".
The midfielder concluded by calling for maturity and responsibility in public statements: "When you're over 21, you have to accept and embrace your maturity. You have to avoid saying unfounded nonsense".
