The Transitional Council for Professional Football (CTFP) has announced the provisional suspension of two officials following the MTN Elite One matchday 19 game between PWD Bamenda and Unisport du Haut-Nkam. This decision follows unsportsmanlike conduct and a lack of fair play observed during the match that took place in Bamenda on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the CTFP, Faustin Mbida, the council strongly condemned these actions. The CTFP stressed that such behavior is unacceptable and undermines the integrity of professional football.
The suspended officials are the Match Commissioner, Ndoh Jude, and the Match Coordinator, Assang Martin. They are suspended as a precautionary measure, pending the conclusions of the competent jurisdictional committees. The case has been forwarded to these committees for review and further action.
The match between PWD Bamenda and Unisport du Haut-Nkam is part of matchday 19 of the MTN Elite One professional championship. The 2025-2026 season began on January 24, 2026, and is being held with 14 competing teams. Unisport de Bafang currently holds the top spot in the standings.
This suspension comes in a context where FECAFOOT (Cameroonian Football Federation) has already taken similar measures in the past. In January 2026, several officials were suspended following controversial decisions during a match between Victoria United and PWD Bamenda. FECAFOOT had also opened an investigation into suspected match-fixing during a match between Dynamo Douala and AS Fortuna.
Such sanctions are intended to guarantee the integrity of competitions and promote fair play in Cameroonian football. The CTFP and FECAFOOT thus intend to combat unsportsmanlike conduct and potential match manipulation.
The jurisdictional committees will examine the facts and determine whether additional sanctions should be taken against the suspended officials. The outcome of this case is eagerly awaited by Cameroonian football stakeholders and supporters.
In the meantime, Ndoh Jude and Assang Martin are removed from all activities related to professional football.
