The Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, visited Maroua on March 26, 2026, accompanied by the Governor of the Far North, Midjiyawa Bakari, to observe the results of the Special Youth Three-Year Plan (PTS-Jeunes). This field visit aimed to concretely assess the impact of this government program in a region facing significant socio-economic challenges.
The ministerial delegation visited six enterprises of young entrepreneurs benefiting from the PTS-Jeunes and the Youth Connekt Cameroon program. Among the companies visited, two were particularly noteworthy: AUDA BEAUTY, a hairdressing and beauty salon managed by Daguieba Aurélie Mailasso, a young woman trained in Yaounde and returned to her native region thanks to the support of PTS-Jeunes. Secondly, BIOWATER Sarl, a company specializing in the production of refreshing alkaline biofilters, led by Jean Baptiste Etame, an engineer graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique and beneficiary of FOGAJEUNE.
BIOWATER currently employs 11 young people, including 4 in direct jobs.
Mounouna Foutsou's visit to Maroua illustrates the importance given by the government to youth entrepreneurship as a response to the challenges of unemployment, precariousness and insecurity in the Far North region. The Special Youth Triennial Plan, launched in 2016, aims to provide concrete alternatives to young people in marginalized regions by encouraging them to create their own businesses and contribute to local economic development.
During his visit, the Minister stressed that the PTS-Jeunes has financed numerous projects at the national and regional levels. This visit is part of the preparation for the 7th edition of the Youth Connekt Cameroon Convention, scheduled for December 2026. For the young people of the Far North, this ministerial visit sends a clear signal: their projects matter, their companies are visible, and the resources of the State are accessible to them.
