Morocco has strongly condemned Iran's missile attack against several Arab states, following strikes by the United States and Israel on Tehran and other Iranian cities.
In a statement released on February 28, 2026, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Kingdom of Morocco considered this action a "flagrant violation of national sovereignty" of the affected states, an "unacceptable infringement on their security," and a "direct threat to the stability of the region". The countries targeted by the Iranian missile strikes include the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Morocco expressed its "full solidarity" with the brotherly Arab states and supported all legitimate measures taken to respond to this attack, protect their security, and ensure the peace of their citizens and residents.
This condemnation comes as the Middle East is plunged into a major security crisis, exacerbated by the joint military operations of the United States and Israel against Iran. These operations, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury" by Washington and "Lion's Roar" by Tel Aviv, targeted sites linked to the Iranian military and political leadership, including areas near the compound of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Iran launched missiles at US military bases in the Gulf and in Israel. Tehran confirmed targeting Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Jordan also intercepted Iranian missiles.
The United Arab Emirates reported intercepting several Iranian missiles, but debris fell in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, causing damage. The attack sparked a wave of international condemnation, with the UN calling for respect for international law to maintain peace and security.
Morocco severed diplomatic relations with Iran in 2018, accusing Tehran of supporting the Polisario Front separatist group. This firm position reaffirms Morocco's commitment to regional stability and its solidarity with its Gulf allies.
King Mohammed VI held telephone conversations with the leaders of the Gulf countries, reaffirming Morocco's support for all measures they deem necessary to ensure their security. Rabat maintains long-standing strategic partnerships with the Gulf Cooperation Council states, particularly in security cooperation, investment and political coordination.
Moroccan diplomacy, true to its doctrine, advocates for regional stability, respect for the sovereignty of states, and coordinated action between allies.
