Josiane Golonga, Miss Cameroon 2025, has publicly congratulated Moutongo Mblack Audrey, who succeeds her after her dethronement by Comica. In a statement, Golonga mentioned her state of health and the reactions caused by her dethronement, while assuring that she is working to ensure that the truth is restored.
"I am deeply touched by the current situation. It does not leave me indifferent at all, and I fully appreciate the emotion and reactions it is causing within our community," she wrote. She called for calm and avoidance of controversy, emphasizing her commitment to restoring the truth with respect for institutions.
She also extended her best wishes to Moutongo Mblack Audrey, wishing her every success "in the exercise of her new functions, serving Cameroon". Golonga stated that her health is good and her morale is "peaceful and confident," adding that the trials do not take away her faith, dignity, or love for the country.
The Miss Cameroon Organizing Committee (COMICA) stripped Josiane Golonga of her title of Miss Cameroon 2025 due to "serious and repeated breaches of contractual obligations". Ingrid Solange Amougou, president of Comica, stated that Golonga had not fulfilled her commitments, citing unjustified absences from official events and disrespectful remarks towards the institution. Comica has removed all rights and privileges related to the title.
Audrey Moutongo Black, who was the first runner-up, has been designated as the new Miss Cameroon 2025. Originally from Douala, in the Littoral region, Moutongo was Josiane Golonga's first runner-up since the election on July 12, 2025. She was officially invested in her new role on February 25, 2026.
Golonga's dethronement has caused a stir, with accusations of stigmatization and insults against the president of Comica. Golonga is also reportedly claiming unpaid salary arrears and the return of her company car. The case has taken a judicial and community turn, sparking strong reactions on social media.
The case highlights the recurring tensions between the winners and the organization, as well as the scandals that have marked the history of the Miss Cameroon competition. While waiting for the situation to calm down, Audrey Moutongo Black now assumes the functions of Miss Cameroon, with Manuella Deutchoua as first runner-up and Atem Noella as second runner-up.
