The Miss Cameroon Organizing Committee (COMICA) has released a statement addressing recent accusations and allegations circulating on social media regarding unethical practices within the institution. The organization, aware of the concern caused by these allegations, aimed to provide clarifications with transparency.
COMICA insists that promoting female leadership, excellence, civic education, and social engagement has been central to its mission since its inception. The valorization of Cameroonian women and the protection of the dignity of candidates remain paramount. The committee emphasizes that the Founding President of COMICA, as a mother, would not tolerate practices that undermine the moral or physical integrity of the candidates. Family, educational, and civic values are the foundation of her commitment.
All candidates, whether regional or national, are systematically informed of the need to report any inappropriate proposal, misplaced behavior, or ambiguous situation. The protection of candidates is a constant priority, and internal mechanisms ensure they are heard and kept safe.
The organization of the competitions is based on formal internal regulations, a code of ethics, a structured institutional framework, as well as moral and professional support. COMICA states that it is committed to the principles of transparency, continuous improvement, and dialogue, and remains open to any constructive approach aimed at strengthening public trust and preserving the image of this platform.
The committee calls for caution in spreading unverified information and reaffirms its commitment to continue its mission with responsibility, serenity, and respect for republican values. At least four Miss Cameroon titleholders have been dethroned since the competition's creation, raising questions about COMICA's internal operations. These dethronements fuel a climate of suspicion, where former winners privately denounce a system of predation, with accounts of forced compromises.
