Construction of the bridge over the Mboro River is progressing steadily, raising high hopes for improved connectivity in the region. According to officials from the Ministry of Public Works, the ACROW metal structure, currently being assembled by Nan Company, is taking shape on one of the banks of the Mboro River, located on the Ambam – Minkan – Ma’an route, in the Ntem Valley department, South region.
With a completion rate of 53.44%, this large-scale project is reaching a decisive stage. In addition to the ongoing assembly, several other operations are underway, including the rigorous reinforcement of the piles for piers P1, P2, and abutment C0, as well as the complete execution of the six piles of pier P2. Capping operations and sonic tests have validated the conformity of the supports before the installation of the lean concrete and the pouring of the connecting base. Simultaneously, the teams have finalized the pier heads of abutment C3 and abutment C0 on the Ma’an side, thus consolidating the structure of the work.
This 112.34-meter-long bridge is considered a strategic structure for the region. It is expected to facilitate access to basic social services, markets, health facilities, and schools, while stimulating local economic activity. The Ministry of Public Works has reaffirmed its determination to deliver this bridge by the end of 2026.
In another development, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, met with stakeholders to review the blocking factors before the signing of the financing agreement for the construction of the Ebolowa–Akom II–Kribi road, amounting to over 130 billion FCFA. The finalization of expropriation and compensation procedures for local residents is among the points examined.
The construction of this bridge and the Ebolowa-Akom II-Kribi road represents a significant investment in Cameroon's infrastructure, aiming to improve connectivity and stimulate economic development.
