André Onana's future at Manchester United appears increasingly uncertain. Despite the Cameroonian goalkeeper's desire to fight for his place, the English club is reportedly considering selling him this summer. Currently on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey, Onana no longer seems to be in the plans of the Red Devils.
Manchester United reportedly wants to reduce their wage bill and focus on a new option in goal, namely Semme Lemmens. Having arrived last summer, Lemmens has established himself as the number one. The Manchester United management is said to be convinced that the young Belgian goalkeeper has the potential to lead the team to European heights.
Despite a contract running until 2028, Onana could therefore be forced to find a new club. Several options are said to be available to him, including Borussia Mönchengladbach, which has recently inquired about his situation. Gulf clubs are also reportedly interested in the Cameroonian goalkeeper's profile.
André Onana's adventure at Manchester United will therefore have been short-lived. Recruited at a premium in 2023 to replace David de Gea, the goalkeeper never managed to convince, making a series of costly errors. His departure now seems inevitable, with Manchester United keen to turn the page and hand over the keys to their goal to Semme Lemmens.
Discussions are expected to take place shortly between Onana's representatives and Manchester United management to determine the way forward.
