The Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie, has publicly expressed his deep gratitude to the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, for the trust he has placed in him by appointing him to this position since 2019. This statement was made during his appearance on the show "Entre'Hite" on Sun plus tv.

"I would like to express all my gratitude to the President of the Republic who chose me to be Minister of Public Health since 2019. As I exercise this function, I realize that it is a privilege," said Mr. Manaouda. He emphasized how this position allows him to better understand the difficulties faced by Cameroonians, recalling his own experiences.

The minister shared aspects of his past, mentioning a modest childhood where his father, a pastor, received a meager salary. This personal experience, he says, makes him all the more aware of the realities experienced by many Cameroonians.

Manaouda Malachie was born in 1973 in Mokolo, and has been Minister of Public Health since January 4, 2019. Prior to holding this position, he served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Water and Energy, and the Ministry of Arts and Culture.

In November 2025, Manaouda Malachie presented the 2026 budget for his ministry, a budget of 391.267 billion FCFA, before the Finance Committee of the National Assembly. This budget focuses on the structural transformation of the health system and the consolidation of human capital. Priorities include reducing communicable and non-communicable diseases, expanding vaccination (including against malaria), and resuming distribution campaigns of impregnated mosquito nets.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of improving living conditions, mental health, nutrition and community participation. Particular emphasis is placed on food and water safety, as well as strengthening the health system through accelerating Universal Health Coverage and modernizing infrastructure.

At the beginning of 2026, the Minister launched an appeal for a change focused on performance within his ministry, insisting on collaboration, conviviality and cohesion between the different structures.
