La Régionale Bank S.A. demonstrated a sharp increase in profitability in 2025, reporting a net profit of FCFA 821 million, compared to FCFA 163 million in 2024, marking a 403% increase in one year, according to its certified financial statements.
This performance is attributed to the bank's strategic repositioning towards corporate finance, particularly through the development of guarantees and credit, combined with strong deposit mobilization. An executive of the institution told Investir au Cameroun that this shift in focus has allowed the bank to scale up its operations, extending beyond the retail segment.
Customer loans outstanding increased by more than 50%, from approximately FCFA 26.8 billion in 2024 to over FCFA 40 billion in 2025. This growth reflects a more assertive push in the credit market, within an increasingly competitive banking environment in Cameroon.
At the same time, the bank strengthened its resource base, with collected deposits reaching FCFA 51 billion at the end of 2025, compared to approximately FCFA 38 billion a year earlier, representing a 34% increase. This growth supported the expansion of La Régionale Bank's activity during the year.
Despite this significant improvement in its results, La Régionale Bank decided not to distribute its profit. Of the FCFA 821 million generated, 10% will be allocated to the legal reserve (FCFA 82 million) and 15% to optional reserves (FCFA 123 million). The balance, representing 75% of the net result, or FCFA 616 million, will be carried forward, thus prioritizing the strengthening of equity.
La Régionale Bank's total balance sheet also increased, reaching FCFA 81.2 billion as of December 31, 2025, compared to FCFA 64.2 billion a year earlier, representing a 26% increase. This evolution reflects the expansion of the volume of activity, mainly driven by the growth of loans.
Officially entering the Cameroonian banking landscape in 2022, La Régionale Bank, formerly an expanded microfinance institution, aims to consolidate its position in the sector. The institution claims a network of 42 branches and presents itself as the only financial institution listed on the Central African Securities Exchange (BVMAC).
However, in 2024, La Régionale Bank experienced an 80% drop in net profit, leading to a lack of dividends and investor disinterest.
La Régionale Bank is therefore showing increased momentum in 2025, with a simultaneous increase in its profit, loans, deposits, and balance sheet. Time will tell whether this progress will be sustained in the face of increased competition and the need to ensure the quality of financed assets.
