The National Communication Council (CNC) has suspended Philippe Boney, media director for the L'Anecdote group and General Manager of Vision 4, from practicing journalism in Cameroon for one month. The decision was made public during the Council's 49th ordinary session on March 5, 2026, presided over by its president, Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubse.
The suspension follows the broadcast of "Club d'Elites" programs on Vision 4 on February 8 and 15, 2026. The CNC deemed that statements made during these broadcasts did not adhere to standards of journalistic responsibility and rigor.
Specifically, the sanction is motivated by targeted attacks and inappropriate statements aimed at the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. The CNC also pointed to statements questioning the integrity of the presidential election, casting doubt on the electoral process that led to the election of the President of the Republic. According to the Council, this disciplinary measure is necessary to preserve social cohesion and respect for institutions.
Philippe Boney, who has held various positions of responsibility within the L'Anecdote group since joining Vision 4 in 2021, was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vision 4 RCA in November 2025, while retaining his position as Director of Vision 4 TV.
The CNC, the media regulatory body in Cameroon, is responsible for ensuring compliance with journalistic ethics and professional standards. Other media outlets and journalists have also been sanctioned in the past for similar violations.
