The inauguration of the new headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) continues to generate positive reactions, notably from former Indomitable Lions. Jean Bahebeck, a former Cameroonian striker, expressed his admiration for Samuel Eto'o during his appearance on the show La Grande Palabre on NTV this Thursday.
Bahebeck congratulated Eto'o on the construction of this modern infrastructure in Yaounde, calling it an 'achievement' and emphasizing its importance for the development of national football. According to him, this new building represents a major step forward for the image and structure of FECAFOOT, helping to modernize the institution.
'Samuel Eto'o has achieved a feat (...) He has my support,' said Jean Bahebeck, thus giving his support to the current president of FECAFOOT. Several former glories of African and Cameroonian football have also reacted positively to the inauguration of this new headquarters located in the Warda district of Yaounde.
During the ceremony, Samuel Eto'o paid tribute to his predecessor, Iya Mohamed, acknowledging that this project was initially his vision. Eto'o stressed that Mohamed had perceived the need for a modern administration to support Cameroonian football. He declared: 'Iya Mohamed saw much further than his time. He is the beginning of this beautiful dream'.
The construction of the headquarters had been interrupted in 2013 following Mohamed's imprisonment, but Eto'o made it a priority as soon as he was elected head of FECAFOOT. The inauguration was preceded by a sports march through the streets of Yaounde, a gala match and a concert at the military stadium. This new headquarters is seen as a symbol of modernization for Cameroonian football. The event brought together political and sporting figures, including former CAF president Ahmad Ahmad, and CAF president Patrice Motsepe.
Patrice Motsepe praised the leadership of President Paul Biya and his support for Cameroonian football. The new FECAFOOT headquarters marks a turning point in the administrative history of Cameroonian football, after years of internal crises and organizational difficulties.
