The omission of key players from the Cameroon national team for the upcoming FIFA Series in Australia has raised questions. According to sources close to the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Nouhou Tolo, captain of the Indomitable Lions, and Carlos Baleba, a midfielder, may have been excluded for disciplinary reasons.

Coach David Pagou justified his choices at a press conference, citing "strong choices" in line with the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. However, rumors of indiscipline began to circulate. During a program on Canal 2 International, journalist Georges Mbimbe reported shortcomings observed in Morocco, including lateness to team meals.

This theory seems to be confirmed by a publication from a radio station close to FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o, which highlights the need for discipline and rigor within the team. The post criticizes a "republic of players" where raw talent excused indiscipline, resulting in inconsistent performances and wasted ambitions.

The publication emphasizes that David Pagou now rejects the whims and egos that hinder the team, insisting on respect and a clear project. It remains to be seen whether these disciplinary elements are sufficient to explain the absence of major players like Baleba and Tolo.

Indeed, David Pagou has unveiled a list of 26 players to face Australia and China in the FIFA Series 2026, which will take place on March 27 and 31 in Sydney and Melbourne respectively. This list includes four goalkeepers, ten defenders, nine midfielders and three forwards. Local players have also been integrated into the team.

If indiscipline is proven, these decisions mark a potential turning point in the management of the national team, prioritizing collective discipline over individual talent. Time will tell if this approach bears fruit on the field. The Indomitable Lions will have to show cohesion for these friendly matches of the FIFA Series.
