Georges Mandjeck, former midfielder for the Indomitable Lions and Africa Cup of Nations champion in 2017, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 37. This decision marks the end of a career spanning over a decade at the highest level, during which he played for several European clubs and won notable titles.
In a message published on March 30, 2026, Mandjeck expressed his gratitude for the experiences and lessons learned throughout his career. He emphasized the importance of discipline, rigor, and mental strength that football instilled in him. He also mentioned a knee injury sustained two years ago, during what turned out to be his last match, and the subsequent reflection that led him to this decision.
"All my life, I have lived for football... This sport has built me," he stated. "Today, I am making an important decision. I am turning a page. Without regret. With pride". Mandjeck also thanked everyone who supported and accompanied him throughout his journey.
Beyond his Africa Cup of Nations title in 2017, Mandjeck also won the German second division championship with Kaiserslautern in 2010. His career led him to play for more than ten European clubs, demonstrating his longevity and adaptability.
Mandjeck is now turning to new horizons with the launch of a personal project named NAYUMA, which he describes as a new way of thinking about movement. "For several months, I have been working silently on a project... It's a new way of thinking about movement. NAYUMA. The beginning of a new chapter," he announced.
