The controversy surrounding the car offered to Serge Daura, following his crowning as the 2025 Cameroonian Ballon d'Or winner, has begun to subside. Faced with questions raised on social media and in public opinion, the management of Gazelle FA has sought to clarify the Jetour vehicle presented to the young striker at the ceremony on February 27, 2026.

Housseini Touré, sports director of the Garoua club, spoke out to explain the situation. In a statement relayed by Nord Actu TV, he assured that the car had never disappeared and that it was currently being kept by the club.

"I can confirm that Serge Daura's Jetour is in good hands. From the day of the ceremony, we recovered the car. As Serge Daura is a minor, he is not yet in control of the steering wheel. We have secured the car at our level," he said.

This clarification comes after several days of speculation. The controversy had grown during the trophy presentation tour organized in Garoua. During this parade, the winner of the 2025 Ballon d'Or was seen aboard a pick-up truck, and not in the Jetour that had been given to him during the ceremony. This image quickly fueled discussions, with some seeing an inconsistency, while others suggested a possible staging around the vehicle promised to the player.

In reality, the decision to keep the car within the club is a precautionary measure related to the player's age. Serge Daura, being a minor, does not have the skills or authorization to drive. Until he reaches the required age to take possession of it, the vehicle will remain in the care of the club. A situation which, according to the leaders, simply aims to protect the player's property. Beyond the controversy, this affair above all illustrates the enthusiasm aroused by the consecration of the young striker, whose talent and precocity continue to attract the attention of Cameroonian football. Gazelle FA hopes that this clarification will definitively close the debate and refocus the news on the sporting performances of its prodigy. At 19, Serge Daura has established himself as a rising star in Cameroonian football.
