Gaëlle Enganamouit, former star striker of the Indomitable Lionesses, has joined the executive committee of FECAFOOT (Cameroonian Football Federation) following the re-election of Samuel Eto'o as president. In a recent interview, Enganamouit clarified her position and expressed her admiration for Samuel Eto'o. "The first thing is that we are two icons," she said. She pointed out that Eto'o is a four-time African Golden Ball winner and that she is the only female Golden Ball winner in Cameroon, a title she won in 2015. This mutual recognition and these individual distinctions create, according to her, a natural "cohesion" between them.
Beyond their personal successes, Enganamouit sees Samuel Eto'o as a role model and a source of inspiration. "He is my icon in football. I am very happy to share his adventure as president of FECAFOOT and today as a member of the Comex," she added. She says she is honored to be part of the leadership team of Cameroonian football and to contribute to its rebuilding.
Samuel Eto'o was re-elected as head of FECAFOOT on November 29, 2025, obtaining 85 out of 87 votes. He was first elected in December 2021, promising to transform Cameroonian football. His new term runs until 2029. Enganamouit, a candidate on Eto'o's list, has thus joined the executive committee.
Eto'o has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to revive Cameroonian football, focusing on restoring the values of the national team and strengthening the autonomy of FECAFOOT. He had promised to build ten stadiums during his first term, but failed to deliver on this promise. Experts believe that the new priorities are essential to make progress after disappointing results.
Enganamouit's appointment to the executive committee is seen as a strong symbol, especially for women's football. The former striker, born in Yaoundé on June 9, 1992, has had a brilliant career, playing in Serbia, Sweden and China. She represented Cameroon at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2015 Women's World Cup. She retired from the sport in 2020.
