Former Cameroonian international François Ngoumou is urging caution in managing the career of Serge Daura, the recent winner of the 2025 Cameroonian Golden Ball.
Speaking on the FOUFOU FOOT program on CRTV Sport on March 16, 2026, Ngoumou emphasized the importance for the young player to prioritize consistent athletic progress and increased maturity before making crucial career decisions. He insists that consistent performance and sound choices will be decisive for Daura's future.
"If Serge Daura continues to score since his return, after winning his Golden Ball, and if he remains consistent in his performances, it will certainly help him. This will help him integrate into the selection and, when he has truly matured psychologically—because he is still very young, only 18 or 19 years old—he will be able to head for a championship or a country that really matches his profile," said François Ngoumou.
Ngoumou warns against rushing and making choices motivated solely by financial gain. He advises Daura not to give in to the first offers that come along, but to look for a project that matches his profile and long-term development goals.
Serge Daura, born on July 7, 2006, plays as a forward. In February 2026, he was expected to join the Egyptian club Al Ahly, a transfer that would mark an important step in his career. Daura stood out as the top scorer in the Cameroonian Elite One during the 2024-2025 season.
"The objective should not simply be to seize an opportunity offered by managers, but rather to find the right opportunity, the one that corresponds to the player's profile and evolution, and not only to the financial gain," Ngoumou concluded.
Daura made his debut with the Cameroon national team on June 6, 2025.
