Ngannou didn't hesitate to express his views on Jones' situation, stating, "If the GOAT is not respected, then who deserves respect?". He added that he was concerned about the way Jones was being treated, suggesting that if this is how the greatest are treated, one can only imagine what others endure. This statement highlights the ongoing tensions regarding salary negotiations in combat sports, especially for top-tier athletes like Jon Jones.
Jones, often regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, is at the center of a debate over his financial worth. Ngannou echoed Jones' sentiments, asserting that he deserves over $30 million considering his contribution to the sport. He also criticized UFC CEO Dana White for questioning the sincerity of negotiations regarding a potential fight at the White House and for criticizing Jones' physical condition.
Ngannou's stance follows his own departure from the UFC due to contract disagreements.
