Former Indomitable Lions goalkeeper, Loïc Feudjou, is in a precarious situation in Zambia, where he is stranded and destitute. A poignant video, released on Facebook on May 12, shows him appealing for help, explaining that he is undocumented following the expiration of his passport and residence permit. He is appealing to Cameroonian authorities and his compatriots to facilitate his repatriation to Cameroon.
Feudjou explains that he was due to return to Cameroon in January 2023, but a professional opportunity in Zambia arose. Unfortunately, the interested club declined to hire him due to an injury. The club also failed to keep its promise to help him renew his passport, which was about to expire.
The goalkeeper, who was part of the Cameroonian squad for the 2014 World Cup, now finds himself in a desperate situation. He says his situation has worsened and no one is helping him, not even former international teammates. Promises of plane tickets and financial assistance have not been kept, and some no longer even respond to his messages.
Feudjou fears ending up on the streets, as the wife of the friend who is currently hosting him is about to return home. He is struggling to meet his basic needs and has even been the victim of theft of his phone. He is now using his friend's phone to communicate and launch his appeal for help.
Maxime Loïc Feudjou Nguegang, born on April 14, 1992 in Douala, has played for several clubs, including Cotonsport de Garoua, Union de Douala, Al Hilal Omdurman (Sudan) and Al Orobah (Saudi Arabia). Today, the former international goalkeeper finds himself stranded in Zambia, without resources and without papers, awaiting assistance to return home.
