The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) is set to inaugurate its new headquarters in Yaoundé on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, marking the culmination of a project initiated 14 years ago by Iya Mohamed. This project, considered one of Samuel Eto'o's most important at the head of FECAFOOT, aims to provide the federation with a modern and efficient tool.
Launched on November 13, 2012, after being conceived in 2009, the building faced numerous obstacles, including administrative blockages, legal proceedings, and institutional instability. Several normalization committees followed one another without managing to complete the construction, leaving the structure in a state of concrete shell for years. Many feared that the project would never be completed and that FECAFOOT would remain forever in its old premises in Tsinga.
The new headquarters, with an area of 2,500 m² and an estimated cost of 1.786 billion FCFA, includes modern offices, meeting rooms, a restaurant, a conference room, and parking lots. FECAFOOT is thus equipped with a tool that meets the standards of major African and global federations.
The inauguration promises to be grandiose, with a festive caravan in the streets of Yaoundé on Tuesday, followed by a giant concert at the Military Stadium with numerous artists. The highlight will be the official inauguration of the headquarters on Wednesday, May 13. High-profile figures from world and African football are expected, including Patrice Motsepe, president of CAF, as well as football legends such as Yaya Touré, Emmanuel Adebayor, and El Hadji Diouf. The sports world will also be represented by Pascal Siakam from the NBA and Yannick Noah.
Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Minister of Sports, and several national figures will also attend this event. The completion of this project was a strong promise of Samuel Eto'o, who wants to transform these walls into an effective governance tool.
Beyond the inauguration and festivities, the main challenge is to make this new headquarters a real lever for the development of Cameroonian football. While the building offers a working environment worthy of the Indomitable Lions, it must be accompanied by stability and concrete results on the field to restore Cameroonian football to its former glory.
The new infrastructure aims to modernize FECAFOOT's operations and improve the working conditions of its staff. This project is part of a desire to professionalize the management of Cameroonian football and strengthen its influence on the continental and international stage.
