As the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) prepares to inaugurate its new headquarters in Yaoundé on May 13, Guibai Gatama has paid tribute to the various leaders who contributed to the realization of this project. The former member of the FECAFOOT executive committee emphasized the importance of recognizing the cumulative efforts of the different management teams that have succeeded one another at the head of Cameroonian football's governing body.
In a post on his Meta page on May 11, the journalist and influential figure in Cameroonian football expressed his satisfaction with the completion of this project, which was initiated several years ago. He acknowledged the role of each president in bringing this building to fruition, specifically mentioning Iya Mohammed, Seidou Mbombo Njoya, and the current president, Samuel Eto'o Fils.
"As a football enthusiast, I welcome the inauguration of the new headquarters of the Cameroonian Football Federation. I am grateful to all the presidents who contributed, each during his term, to the realization of this beautiful building," he wrote.
The new FECAFOOT headquarters, located in the Warda district of Yaoundé, is presented as a symbol of the modernization of Cameroonian football. The infrastructure will house administrative offices, conference rooms, and a press center, thus offering an improved working environment for the federation's staff and partners. This project, launched in 2012, experienced interruptions before being revived under the leadership of Samuel Eto'o.
The official inauguration of the headquarters took place on May 13 in Yaoundé, in the presence of several figures from African and international football, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino. A festive caravan preceded the ceremony, passing through various districts of the Cameroonian capital before concluding at the military stadium. This event marks an important step for Cameroonian football, with the hope that these new headquarters will contribute to further professionalizing the management of the sport and strengthening its influence on the continental and international stage.
