The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has announced a mid-season training camp for referees and assistant referees in the MTN Elite One and Guinness Super League championships. This initiative aims to strengthen the skills of match officials and ensure quality refereeing for the remainder of the season.
FECAFOOT issued three press releases to inform stakeholders. The first release (N°019) details the list of referees and assistant referees selected to participate in the MTN Elite One mid-season camp. The second release (N°020) concerns the names of the instructors responsible for leading the Guinness Super League referees' mid-season camp. Finally, the third release (N°021) provides the list of referees and assistant referees who will take part in the Guinness Super League mid-season camp.
The main objective of this camp is to harmonize the interpretation of the rules of the game and improve the physical condition of the referees. Theoretical and practical sessions will be organized, covering various aspects of refereeing, such as positioning on the field, managing fouls, and communicating with players. Experienced instructors, former top-level referees, will lead the sessions and share their expertise with the participants.
FECAFOOT places particular importance on the continuous training of referees, considering them essential to the smooth running of competitions. By investing in the development of their skills, the federation hopes to ensure fair and equitable refereeing, thus contributing to the improvement of Cameroonian football. This mid-season camp is part of a series of initiatives put in place by FECAFOOT to professionalize refereeing, such as the young referees' schools launched for the 2025-2026 season.
FIFA also attaches great importance to the preparation of referees, especially for the 2026 World Cup. Intensive training camps are organized for selected referees, including match simulations, physical tests, and video analysis. The goal is to ensure that referees are in top physical and technical form to officiate at this major competition.
